The company was launched by Andrew Bowman following a ten-year career across the UK within the private, public and third sectors. Andrew is a well-connected business leader, providing development and growth support to a range of companies across Scotland across a wide range of industries.
Having grown up in Gourock, Andrew returned to Inverclyde to become head of business investment and operations at regeneration charity Riverside Inverclyde in 2016, overseeing an 18% increase in occupancy within its commercial portfolio and significantly raising its profile across Scotland while establishing its first marketing strategy.
During his time at Ri, Andrew was part of the team that helped to retain multiple global businesses to stay in the Inverclyde area and worked collaboratively with Cisco and Capita to establish Greenock Town Centre’s digital Wifi programme. Andrew was also an integral part of the development of Scotland’s first food and drink incubator hub and support programme (Baker Street) as well as playing an active role in Inverclyde Council's Regeneration and Employability taskforce and Tourism Inverclyde.
Before this, Andrew spent seven years at Zurich Insurance PLC, where he grew to be part of the leadership team as a strategic assistant to the Managing Director of its Public Sector arm, Zurich Municipal in London, granting him access and outstanding knowledge of the corporate world and business. Andrew was a crucial component in the delivery of the 2014-2016 and 2020 strategic aims, following Group objectives and supported the MD with Zurich Municipal's property exposure, which was more than £400bn throughout the UK, while acting as a member of the UK Steering Group analysing current and past safeguarding claims.
Andrew helped to develop a positive working environment for over 500 employees across seven locations, successfully improving Voice of Employee scores by 4ppts to 75% (UK High Performing Organisation), leading to 93% proud to work for ZM result and an improved Net Promoter Score of 5ppts to over 44 (UK HPO). Andrew was also a Green Belt in the Zurich Lean programme.
Andrew is an alumnus of Glasgow Caledonian University and lives in Greenock with his wife and two children.
Bowman Rebecchi Limited
Andrew is a Co-Founder and Director of this commercial lettings, sales and portfolio management business.
Bowman Rebecchi delivers Commercial Property Services across central and western Scotland, with a focus on quality service for a wide range of property owners and their tenants. Based in Gourock in Inverclyde and led by co-founders Andrew Bowman and Marco Rebecchi, Bowman Rebecchi provides a vast range of services, including commercial lettings and sales, portfolio management (including billing), as well as maintenance and refurbishment works for all commercial portfolios, partnering with local business expertise to support delivery.
Developing The Young Workforce (West) Region
Andrew is the Chair of DYW West, which focuses on working with employers to help shape their future workforce.
The Developing the Young Workforce West Region is a government-funded programme, hosted by West College Scotland, and has the overall aim of reducing youth unemployment through expanding the knowledge awareness and opportunities available to young people across Scotland. The areas Developing the Young Workforce West covers are Inverclyde, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire. Through Developing the Young Workforce West, employers are able to engage with local young people, allowing insight into their industry and the opportunity to develop and source their future workforce.
Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce
Andrew is the junior vice-president of Inverclyde Chamber, the largest and longest running business network in the area.
Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce is the champion of Inverclyde businesses, providing services to improve business representation, networking, knowledge, awareness and performance. The Chamber has been the influential voice of business in Inverclyde since receiving its Royal Charter in 1813. Today, over 200 years on, it continues to provide valuable services along with a range of initiatives to businesses of all sizes. The Chamber regularly represents Inverclyde's business interests and has formed key alliances with business leaders, trade associations, government agencies, enterprise bodies and other chambers to ensure representation for its members at all levels.
Andrew is the co-founder and Business Director of Creative Inverclyde, a social enterprise set up in March 2019.
Creative Inverclyde was conceived to encourage discussion, share ideas and foster collaboration, to champion the creative community and make people aware of the creative talent hailing from Inverclyde, who are making a difference in the local community and on a global scale. From music and architecture to art and film, Inverclyde has always had an incredibly creative community. Creative Inverclyde is a social enterprise where creativity, arts and culture meet economic regeneration by working together to create a better place to live and work. The other co-founders are Craig Black, an Independent Designer, Lettering Artist and Typographer and Louise Hunter, Founder and Managing Director of Summerhouse Media.
Inverclyde Community Fund
Andrew is a Trustee of this innovative fund, set up to support small scale grants for community use.
ICF is a small, local funding body that gives grants to third sector organisations such as charities and community groups in Inverclyde. The organisation distributes its own resources, which it raises through fundraising and InverLotto and distributes grants on behalf of other organisations such as public sector bodies and housing associations. The organisation is supported by, but separate from, CVS Inverclyde, a larger charity that provides practical and strategic support to third sector organisations in the area.
Andrew is the founder of Taste Inverclyde, a vehicle created to support food and drink tourism and manufacturing in the area
Launched in December 2017 through Riverside Inverclyde, Taste Inverclyde was created to offer locals and visitors the opportunity of offers to eat and drink across Inverclyde businesses, whilst forming a more collaborative approach to the food, drink and tourism industry in the area. The website is a platform to promote independent restaurants, cafés, bars, street food, food production and all other food and drink activities across Inverclyde, whilst representing Inverclyde within Scotland Food and Drink.
